Discovering Lavender: From Our Micro Farm to Your Home

Nestled in the heart of North Idaho’s Inland Northwest, Blue Hazel Homesteading is more than just a small farm—it's a family-rooted dream built on faith, simplicity, and the healing power of nature. On our 5-acre homestead, we tend to our micro lavender farm with the same care we give to our family: intentionally, prayerfully, and with great love.

Every lavender plant we grow is a reminder of nature’s quiet strength and beauty. From seed to bloom, we cultivate our lavender by hand—free from chemicals, driven by sustainable practices, and guided by the rhythms of the land. The result? Fragrant, high-quality blooms that become the heart of our artisan lavender goods, thoughtfully made right here on the farm.

The Many Uses of Lavender

Lavender is one of the most versatile and beloved herbs in the world, and for good reason. Its soothing scent has been used for centuries to promote rest and relaxation, while its natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it a gentle, effective ingredient for skin care and wellness.

At Blue Hazel Homesteading, we create a variety of small-batch lavender products that bring the herb’s natural benefits into everyday life:

  • Fragrant dried lavender bunches to bring calming beauty to your home decor

  • Nourishing lavender salves made with natural oils to soothe dry skin and minor irritations

  • Aromatic lavender heat packs for comfort, stress relief, and muscle relaxation

  • And seasonal favorites like sachets, linen sprays, and bath soaks—all handcrafted with intention

Whether you're seeking relaxation, natural remedies, or a simple way to reconnect with the earth, lavender offers something for everyone.

How We Grow: Faith, Family & Farming

Our micro farm is truly a labor of love. Each spring as we grow our farm, we will be preparing our fields by hand, working the soil and planting new rows under the bright Idaho sun. Throughout the growing season, we will weed, water, and tend to each plant naturally—no heavy machinery or shortcuts, just the slow, steady work of homesteading.

We believe in honoring the land we’ve been given. That means we never overharvest, we compost and reuse, and we strive to leave the earth better than we found it. Our children are part of the process too, learning firsthand the value of hard work, patience, and stewardship.

As a faith-based family, our work is grounded in gratitude. Every product we craft is more than just a good—it’s a reflection of our values, our love for this land, and our hope to share peace and goodness with others.

A Brief History of Lavender

Lavender has been cherished for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians used it in mummification and perfumes. Romans bathed in lavender-infused water and relied on it for its antiseptic qualities. In medieval times, it was used to ward off illness and freshen homes. Today, lavender remains one of the most popular herbs in aromatherapy, skin care, and holistic wellness.

Its timeless appeal lies in its simplicity—pure, gentle, and calming. It speaks to the soul in a way few plants can.
