Hello and welcome! We’re so glad you’ve found your way to our little corner of the world tucked away in the picturesque Inland Northwest mountains of Idaho. We’re a husband-and-wife team, married for 18 years, and the proud parents of five amazing children. Alongside us on this wild and wonderful ride are our horses, ponies, dairy goats, chickens, ducks, barn cats, and a pack of four very loyal (and sometimes muddy) dogs.

A while back, we found ourselves yearning for a different kind of life—one that moved a little slower, that invited us to step outside more often, get our hands dirty, and really connect with the land. We wanted our children to grow up grounded in nature, to learn the rhythms of the seasons, and to understand the value of hard work, stewardship, and simplicity. And so, our lavender farm was born.
Starting this farm has been more than just planting fields of fragrant purple blooms—it’s been a heartfelt lifestyle shift. Our days are now filled with the earthy joy of growing lavender, caring for our animals, and building something lasting together as a family. We're currently focused on cultivating healthy, vibrant lavender and crafting natural, hand-made lavender products that we hope will bring a sense of peace, wellness, and beauty into your home.
Though we're not quite ready to open to the public just yet, we have big dreams. In time, we plan to welcome visitors to our farm for u-pick lavender experiences, host special events, and create a space where others can enjoy the simple pleasures this land has to offer.
This blog will be a place where we share our progress, the lessons we’re learning, and a behind-the-scenes look at life on the homestead. We hope you'll follow along as we grow—not just lavender, but a way of life.
Thank you for being here. We can’t wait to take you along on this journey.
With gratitude,
The Zitterkopf Family Founders of Blue Hazel Homesteading
